My and my sister´s dream

This the oldest piece of writing in the English I own and find at least somewhat representative. I wrote it sometime around age 16, which now seems to be a long time ago. At that time, I was just beginning to be proud of my English. This was written for a class led by a teacher who was a native speaker. It was written on the topic of my dream. In truth this has been and still is both mine and my sister´ s dream.

Looking back from how I write now I can safely say that it is not the most, well done essay, but it is rather charming in it´´ s simplicity and naivete. It is all the more endearing for it´´ s sincerity.

I believe that it´´ s inclusion next to a more recently written essay offers a nice contrast and showcases how far I have come in the past 6 years.

My favourite place

This is an essay I wrote two days ago. In contrast to the one next to it I have mostly struggled to fit all my ideas in the allotted space of 250 words, which is certainly not a problem I had at 16.

This is an essay that references my month long stay in Malta - my trouble to live in an environment so different from Czech Republic. Interestingly it was the lack of running water and familiar looking trees that did me in, rather than the horrific temperatures. Those temperatures can get used to in a span of a month. But oh how much I missed the feeling of grass.

All in all, I think this is quite a good representation of my writing style. Even thought I wrote it after listening to 8 hours of Sansûkh (look to the reading section) and was very much influenced by it´´ s high fantasy feel.

I have made it this far!

This was the last forum writing I completed last semester and I consider it the best I wrote last academic year. And because it, for some reason, did not find its way on last semester's portfolio, I am including it here now.

I am overall quite proud of this piece, the structure flows nicely, it contains everything I wanted it to and conveys my idea pretty accurately. With that said it showcases my state of mind at the beginning of summer very faithfully and that has since change.

Looking back at it although somewhat melancholic as the best writing of the previous academic year it still holds up.

Video Games

For this specific essay I have used one of the Forum prompts from this semester and it is my most recent work to date. Compared to my writing from last semester I think we can see some improvement, and I feel much better about did than about any of my previous work. I think it showcases my writing style the best, although that might also be influenced by the topic, because it is one, I am quite passionate about.

This is also the only piece of writing I made specifically for this portfolio, so I did not have to consider the length of my essay nor follow the prompt too closely.
